Carmel’s Department of Community Services has officially enrolled in the EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager program, which is a nationwide energy benchmarking initiative. This effort is part of the City of Carmel's broader goal to track energy usage across municipal facilities and compare our performance to national averages.
The primary objective is to better understand where Carmel stands in terms of energy efficiency and to identify and execute opportunities to reduce our environmental impact.
So far, we have begun gathering 2025 data for Carmel City Hall, including measurements such as electricity usage, water consumption, and waste disposal. Once the full year’s data is collected, ENERGY STAR will generate a performance score that shows how our building compares to similar facilities nationwide. This will help us determine where Carmel can work to be more energy efficient.
